Matt Barkley Throws 6 TD's in a 3OT Thriller!

Photo/Rose Palmisano-OCRegister What a way to start the Southern California high school football season. 5 star super-recruit, quarterback Matt Barkley, and his Mater Dei team played Carson High School on Wednesday night.

The game was televised on ESPN2. Matt looked rusty, throwing a few interceptions, but he countered that with 6 touchdown passes, including the final one in triple overtime to seal the deal on Carson (46-43).

Barkley, still very committed to SC, is coming off a junior season that few have ever seen. That means high expectations this year. He finished the night 15 for 31, 301 passing yards, 6 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions (OCVarsity.com)

Carson's Morrell Presley is also committed to the Trojans. ESPN.com calls him the #1 TE in the entire '09 recruiting class. He snagged a nice 31 yard touchdown grab in the second quarter.

Keep an eye out in a couple weeks when SC recruits go head to head again. Matt Barkley's Mater Dei Monarchs will be at home against Corona Centennial and LB Vontaze Burfict on September 19th.
